Cranston Engineering Group’s President, Thomas H. Robertson, was a special invitee and the keynote speaker at a ceremony held May 4, 2018 in Myrtle Beach, SC. This event was hosted by the CSRV branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Augusta Canal was recognized as a Historic Engineering Landmark at the 2018 Carolinas Engineering Conference in June. Robertson gave a speech entitled “Engineering the Augusta Canal, 1845-2018”.
This designation recognized the canal system for its unique engineering which contributed to the development of our nation. The canal illustrates the creativity and innovative spirit of civil engineers. It is one of only about 200 designations of this nature worldwide and only the second in the state of Georgia.
A special plaque was designed to show the Historic Landmark designation – read more about it HERE.
