On Saturday, December 2, 2017, newly designed beacons were lit to show the city of Augusta the Augusta University commitment to the city and the AU community.  This project was a collaboration between Augusta University’s Project Manager, Adam Stroup, and an entire team from the Augusta area. Some of the team members included Cranston’s Structural Design Group Manager and Vice President, Jim Cranford; AAA Sign Company; 2KM Architects, Inc.; Centennial Contractors Enterprises, Inc.

Stroup said in a heartfelt email, “Only 4 short months ago, we assembled and embarked on the monumental task to install these incredible, skyline changing beacons.  In the beginning we quickly realized we were up against a tight budget and a nearly impossible deadline.  The collaboration that this team illustrated was incredible.”

Stroup continued on to thank the team members for their “…dedication, professionalism and patience”.

After working closely together, AU shields now sit atop the AU building located on Broad Street in downtown Augusta. They will stand as a major part of the Augusta skyline for decades to come.

Cranston Engineering Group was proud to assist in making this project a reality.
