Firm President to speak on legendary Ellicott’s Rock

July 3rd, 2018 | By Amanda Adams

Cranston Engineering Group’s President, Thomas Heard Robertson (professional engineer and amateur historian) will present “Andrew Ellicott: Explorer of the Mountainous Upstate” Sunday, July 8, 2018, at a World Energy event. Robertson is working on a manuscript detailing the search for the legendary Ellicott’s Rock.

Ellicott was seeking the 35th parallel of north latitude to find where it struck the Blue Ridge (Eastern Continental Divide). Although he was the first to establish the common corner of Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and subsequent boundary commissioners also engraved rocks at the site, Ellicott’s original rock has never been found.
